Are all Tours guaranteed to run?

All SEARCHTRAVEL tours are guaranteed to run when the minimum number of guests is met. Our minimums are small (usually 4 guests), so it would be unusual not to run a scheduled tour. Once tours are guaranteed we will display a ‘guaranteed’ stamp on that tour. If the minimum number of guests is not met you will receive 100% of your deposit back. For more information please speak to one of our consultants.

We recommend only booking your airfare once the departure date for that trip has been confirmed. SEARCHTRAVEL is not responsible for expenses that have been paid for before individual tours have been confirmed to run.

How will my bike be stored?

During the tour your bike will be securely stored in a locked room. Usually this will be within the hotel grounds however there are occasions when this is not possible. Regardless of storage location, our staff will ensure that no unauthorised person will be able to access them.

What happens if i have to change or cancel my tour?

We understand that things can change and you may have to cancel or change your travel plans due to unforeseen circumstances. We endeavour to make it as simple as possible to do so.

What type of weather should I expect?

All SEARCHTRAVEL tours are in regions that are mountainous, surrounded by lakes, or in close proximity to the sea. The weather in these regions is particularly unpredictable and can range from -1 to 35°C. The weather, by its very nature, is highly unpredictable and as our tours are essentially based on outdoor activities we are at the mercy of the environment.

In the instance of poor conditions, we will do our best to adapt your tour by changing daily schedules however we make no guarantees that we can deliver any or all components of a tour that are subject to the weather. We will also do our best to substitute indoor activities on those days when riding is not possible.

What happens if the weather is cold and raining?

Riding guests
Safety is paramount. If we believe the designated route is unsafe when raining or windy, we will endeavor to find another suitable route. If we believe the weather is to severe to ride SEARCHTRAVEL will endeavor to find alternative activities for the day.

Sightseeing guests
If the weather is too severe to undertake planned activities SEARCHTRAVEL will endeavor to find alternative activities.

What does twin share mean?

Twin share means (if you are travelling alone) you will be paired with another tour guest of the same sex for accommodation purposes.

What is a classic style hotel?

A Classic Style hotel is characterised as 4 to 5 stars. We look for hotels that are old to ancient in appearance but recently refurbished or renovated inside.

What is Villa Style accommodation?

Villa Style accommodation is a stand alone dwelling/residence with separate bedrooms and usually includes communal lounge, sitting and dining areas. We look for Villas that are old to ancient in appearance with comfortable interiors and serviceable kitchens as we usually cater internally for our guests with Villa accommodation. Due to the nature of this type of accommodation the Villas are not usually star rated however we do ensure that we review each property to ensure they are fit for purpose.

How fit do i need to be to complete a tour?

If you plan on riding, SEARCHTRAVEL recommends that a good fitness indicator is that you should be comfortable riding between 200 km – 300 km in a week. Some race tours such as Tour de France, Giro d”Italia and Vuelta Espana may total more than 500 km’s but you can choose not to ride every day as it is Your Tour – Your Choice.

Rider Types

We describe an Enthusiast rider as someone who is comfortable in a bunch, rides 2 to 4 times a week and usually covers 150 to 250 km each week.

Generally we would describe an Advanced rider as someone who is comfortable rolling turns in a bunch, rides 3 to 6 times a week and usually covers 200 to 400 km each week.
